About the Artist's > Bio Artists
I was born in 1964, I'm married, one son. I was born and live in Portugal. I have a university degree in Electronics and Telecomunications and I'm employed as an IT manager in a multinational corporation. Computer graphics is only a hobby to me, my job has nothing to do with it. My other hobbies include reading, cinema and I’m a big fan of sci-fi.
My passion for digital image creation began only in late 2006. I was addicted to the city simulation game, SimCity. After exploring all the game, I wanted more. I discovered that it was possible to make my own custom buildings for my cities, using 3D tools. I tried several free or cheap tools and created my first buildings. It was very nice to see SimCity landscapes with my buildings. But I wanted more. I wanted to create my own landscapes, without being bond by the SimCity universe. After trying several tools, I finally found Vue and this tool really allowed me to translate to screen most of the images wandering around in my mind.
I don't consider myself an artist. I'm not sure what art is... To make it simple, I just see myself as an 'image maker'. I have no background or education in art, all I know was the result of carefully analyzing the work of many artists, carefully reading comments of others to my images and reading a few articles and tutorials on the internet. And, of course, lots of experimentation and a strong sense of self-criticism.
I'm happy when my work is recognized by others. It means I'm on the right track and gives me confidence to continue and to improve. More than 50 of my images were awarded "Picture of the Day" at http:// www.e-onsoftware.com, who are the manufacturers of Vue, the application I primarily use for making my images. This company also used several of my images for various marketing purposes. The images in the boxes of Vue 7 Esprit and Vue 7 Pioneer are both mine.
In late 2008 I was interviewed by a German online magazine, http:// www.activerendering.de and in 2009 I was interviewed by http:// www.cornucopia3d.com/, an online store of 3D content. I was also happy and honoured to have contributed with two of my images to an excellent book about Vue, "Vue 7 from the Ground Up" (http://www. vue7fromthegroundup.com/).
I hope you enjoy my images! :-)
